It is with pride that I can announce Team Vrije Vissers has won the Dutch championship street fishing 2023. After a season of specific competition training, our hard work has paid off. We have claimed the title of Dutch street fishing champion 2023!

Street fishing is a popular form of sport fishing where participants fish in urban waters for various types of fish (perch, zander and pike). It requires not only technical skills but also strategic insight and knowledge of the environment. Our team has trained for months to improve our skills and prepare for the competition.

The competition took place in Leeuwarden in the Netherlands, with teams from across the country competing for the title. We faced challenging conditions, murky water after heavy rainfall and passive fish across the course. But thanks to our dedication and determination, we were able to adapt and surpass the competition.

Our strategy was based on a thorough analysis of the fishing areas and observing fish activity. We focused on using techniques and bait specifically suited for the types of fish we were targeting. This required patience, precision, and a good understanding of fish habits.

The competition was intense, the competition was strong, but we kept our cool and followed our game plan. Oh no, wait... Actually, we instantly lost our cool, had set back after set back the first hour and a half and completely ditched our game plan. Dropping a full pack of my favourite baits between a bridge opening and spending 20 minutes to retrieve it, we decided to just make it a nice day of fishing rather than stressing for the competition.
This was the key to our succes I think. Being totally relaxed and not bothered by the results, we started catching fish. It started with a small zander and then 2 nice pikes. It was after 3 and a half hour into the 5 hour competition we found out we where actually in first place. Wait what!? With one and a half hour to go the pressure was back.
But this time we kept our cool. We got the final and winning perch with about 40 minutes left on the clock, This was enough to seal the deal!

We would like to express our gratitude to the organizers of the championship. We also want to congratulate our fellow participants on their achievements and thank them for the sporting competition.
